Pokhara tourism organizations to conduct musical program on no-vehicle weekends

KATHMANDU, Mar 18: Pokhara Metropolitan is enforcing no-vehicle zone in the Lakeside area from coming Friday. In the first phase, the no-vehicle zone will be enforced on Fridays and Saturdays from Hallanchowk to Barahi chowk. The city is planning to conduct musical programs in the area on the no-vehicle days.
Ward Chief of Ward no. 8, Pokhara Metropolitan City, said that from the coming Friday, a two-hour musical program will be conducted on the no-vehicle days under the sponsorship of different tourism organizations. The first program this will will be conducted by the Nepal Tourism Board Regional Office. Office Chief Surya Thapaliya said that the program will be conducted at the center point of the no-vehicle zone, in the Lakeside area. The program will focus on the cultural instrument of the Gandharva caste, the Sarangi.
It is planned to conduct these musical programs in a weekly fashion, under rotating sponsorship of different tourism organizations. Organizations which have shown interest in conducting the program are REBAN, Regional Hotel Association, NATTA, and TAAN. The program will focus on Nepali cultural music with the aim of promoting and preserving Nepali culture.
