KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Private airlines are increasing the airfare in the domestic sector, starting Monday. The increase in airfare was motivated due to the rise in price of air turbine fuel (ATF) from Nepal Oil Corporation. NOC increased the price of air turbine fuel by Rs. 5 per liter on Thursday.
The umbrella organization of airlines in Nepal, Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), decided to increase the fare from between Rs 75 up to Rs 355, on Thursday.
“We have decided to increase the fare in accordance with the ceiling set by the government. We will submit the rates to the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN) on Sunday for approval,” said Ghanashyam Acharya, spokesperson of the association. “If it is endorsed by the CAAN, the new fare will come into effect from Monday.”
The new rates for some of the locations from Kathmandu are as follows:
Mountain Flight: 11,295
Bhairahawa: 6 220
