Qatar Airways to start flights to St Petersburg

KATHMANDU , Dec 18: Qatar Airways has announced its new flights to Saint Petersburg from from December 19.
Issuing a press statement, the airlines company said that its Boeing 777 aircraft will fly from Doha to Saint Petersburg on the scheduled date to start commercial flights that could greatly benefit Russian tourists visiting Nepal.
Russian Ambassador to Nepal Andrey Sergeyevich Budnik and Qatar Airways’ Country Manager to Nepal Jay Prakash Nair celebrated the occasion with an event held at the Russian Culture Center at Kamal Pokhari, Kathmandu. The event started with photo exhibition which demonstrated the rich culture of Russia.
During the event, the Russian ambassador welcomed Qatar Airways’ initiative and said that Russian mountaineers, trekkers and sports enthusiast can come to Nepal in big way, making use of Qatar Airways flights between Moscow and Kathmandu.
“In addition to adventure tourism, Russians are interested in cultural and religious activities like Yoga and meditation too,” said Ambassador Budnik. He further added that FIFA World cup will boost the movement between Nepal and Russia. The press release stressed on boosting economic relations between the country including tourism, trade and investments and also cultural exchange.
