Radisson Hotel Organizes "Menstrual Awareness Campaign" in CSR Month

KATHMANDU, Jun 26: Radisson Hotel has organized an awareness program for menstrual awareness called "Menstrual Awareness Campaign: Let's raise generations free from menstrual taboos", in collaboration with Mitini by Mitra Samaj on Monday. The objective of this event was to raise awareness about variety of menstrual misconceptions that the society possesses. The event was part of Radisson Hotel's Corporate Social Responsibility month.
A total of 55 participants, including 20 school students from Nepal's Children Organization (Bal Mandir) NCO Nepal, 5 participants from Mitini and 20 employees from Radisson Hotel took part in a rally starting from Radisson Hotel, Lazimpat. During the course of the rally, participants distributed sanitary pads to pedestrians to convey a message to open up about mestruation. After the rally, the Director of Human Resource of Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu, Mr. Kiran Pant and Active Practitioner Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), Ms. Shikha Shrestha, Project Manager from Water Aid, spoke few words about menstruation and menstrual hygiene in Nepal.
Ms. Shikha Shrestha, said that menstruation is a very crucial and extremely important matter in a country like Nepal. She pointed out that 70% of the schools in Nepal are not facilitated with water in their toilets, and some schools don't even have a toilet in their school premises which poses difficulty for girls to change pads or even function during their menstrual period. She called for Nepali society to change the outlook to help these girls and for the government to make policies that would help to improve the life of these girls.
Radisson Hotel Kathmandu expressed gratitude towards Mitra Samaj for working towards eradicating menstrual taboos and promoting menstrual hygiene in Nepal. Mitini is an initiative of MITRA Samaj aimed to provide Feminine Sanitary Services to females in workplaces, educational institutions, restaurants and retail service outlets.
