Rafting event held in Kashmir to promote tourism

KASHMIR: A rafting event was held in Kashmir state on Saturday (August 05) to promote tourism in the state.
The event, in northern Ganderbal district, was organized by department of Kashmir Tourism in collaboration with Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK).
"In order to create interest in this (rafting) and attract people towards adventure sports, we keep on organising events like these and today, here in Wussan, we have organised a rafting event in which 11 teams are participating." Director of Kashmir Tourism Mehmood Shah told ANI.
In the event, a 5-km race was held on the occasion in which eleven teams participated from across the state.
The hill state of Kashmir has been a popular destination for tourists looking for a pleasant gateway from the hectic life of metropolitan cities.
River rafting is a popular adventure sport among tourists who visit Wusaan in the district.
Kashmir was once dubbed Switzerland of India. It was once a Mecca for climbers, skiers, honeymooners and filmmakers.
