Renowned Bisket Jatra concludes

BHAKTAPUR, April 19: The renowned nine-day long Bisket Jatra or festival concluded in here Tuesday.
The Bisket Jatra, which starts four days before the New Year as per Tantrik rituals, concludes on the fifth day of the New Year by pulling the chariot.
The Jatra that began by pulling the chariot of Bhairabnath on April 10 formally concluded on Tuesday after pulling the same chariot this evening. The chariot has remained stuck at Gahiti after it suffered a malfunction in the wheels.
A large number of police personnel had been deployed around the Jatra site to curb any untoward incidents. According to the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, more than 1,000 police personnel were deployed.
Twelve people were injured on April 10, the first day of Bisket Jatra, while two competing groups pelting stones at one another while taking to take the chariot to their respective locality.
