Sauraha couldn’t meet the expected number of international tourists

CHITWAN, Nov 01: External tourists are not able to arrive as expected in the Sauraha, known as the country's third tourist destination. There is no positive arrival of tourists in Sauraha due to the political instability, blockage and earthquake.



As per the tourism entrepreneurs, there is the good arrival of domestic tourists but they couldn’t meet the target of international tourists. Though there is no exact statistics on the arrival of tourists but it is expected to be less as compared to the other national parks. Suman Ghimire, President of Regional Hotel Association of Sauraha, says that the tourist’s arrival has increased in general but we are not able to meet the target of international tourists. Ghimire urged the Tourism board promote Nepal among the international tourists.


Sauraha remains crowded mostly in the time of holidays and festive seasons. According to Gokarna Giri, the President of Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal, We need more international tourists to develop the economy of the country. The officials of the park informed that the tourists usually visit Sauraha for Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari. Giri says that we should provide better facilities to tourists in order to attract them.
