KATHMANDU, March 21: Senior Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that the government of Nepal should bring programs to uplift the industries and businesses affected by the pandemic of Covid-19 while bringing the budget for the coming fiscal year.

Addressing the 22nd Annual General Assembly of Itahari Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the Chief Guest on Saturday, Senior Vice President Dhakal said that the country's economy has suffered a lot due to the pandemic of Covid 19 and next year's budget should cover the remaining areas which were not addressed by last year’s budget. "Last year's budget and monetary policy, to some extent, sought to provide relief to the Covid-affected industry. However, it has not been able to cover many areas. While formulating the budget this year, it is necessary to formulate additional policies and programs to uplift the Covid-affected industries and businesses, ”he said.

"With the drafting of the new constitution, an atmosphere of peace, stability and development has been created in the country to a large extent. We are encouraged by the competition for development at the local level. However, due to some old structures and policies, the investment climate we are looking for has not yet been created. For this, the federation will have to pressurize the government and stakeholders, ”he further added.

Senior Vice President Dhakal said that the interest rate of the bank has come down to single digits and the outbreak of Covid-19 is gradually decreasing. Stating that the business leaders of the district and the city are capable of solving the problems of the small businessmen of the district and city, he said that the federation is always ready to work with the businessmen of the district and city to solve the problems of the businessmen.
