KATHMANDU, April 8: The chariot procession of the Seto Machchhindranath, the deity of rain and good harvest, has concluded here today.

The festival of towing the chariot with the statue of the deity ensconced in a wooden frame in the shape of a temple in a procession had started on April 4. The chariot was pulled in a procession from the Teendhara Pathsala and it concluded upon reaching Janabahal.

Earlier, the statue of the deity was taken out from the chariot when it reached Lagan. The chariot makes its journey through different locations in the main city.

A large number of devotees had thronged Janabahal today on the occasion of the conclusion of the chariot procession dedicated to the Seto Machchhindranath deity. The Hindus revere Seto Machchhindranath in the form of Shiva Shakti or the power of Lord Shiva while the Buddhists worship it as the god of goodwill and compassion.
