Shuttle bus operated for tourists on Election Day

KATHMANDU, May 14: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) arranged the tourist shuttle bus for receiving and dropping tourists on the Election Day today.

Since no traffic movement was allowed from 5 am to 7 pm on the voting day except to the vehicles acquiring permit from the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN), the NTB operated the buses to ferry tourists to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The service was operated for the tourists flying in the other parts of the country through the domestic airport in the capital city besides the TIA, according to the NTB.

In addition, NTB's senior officer Sudan Subedi informed the National News Agency (RSS) that tourist buses were operated in three different routes to the major tourist spots from the TIA in coordination with the tourist police.

The service seekers had to pay Rs 300 for availing the shuttle bus services that operated from the TIA to different hotels in the Kathmandu Valley plying since the first flight.

The tourist bus service will be in operation till late night, shared senior officer Subedi.

The operation of vehicles not acquiring the permit were prohibited across 34 districts in province no 3, 4 and 6 where the first phase of local level election was held.
