Sports Minister Promises to Help Female Journalists Climbing Everest

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The “First Female Journalists Everest Climb – 2017” group have met with the Youth and Sports Minister Rajendra Kumar K.C., who has promised to fully support and help the group in its effort.
Minister K.C. met with the mountaineering group of five in his ministry office and promised them material and economic support. He has also promised to arrange meeting with the people relevant to the endeavor, inform the cabinet of their efforts and also arrange a special meeting for the group with the Prime Minister.
The group, which is beginning its Everest climb sometime in the coming March/April includes female journalists Kalpana Maharjan (Mountain Television), Rosha Basnet (RSS), Priya Laxmi Karki (News 24), Rojita Buddhacharya (B. P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory, and Science Conservatory Development Board – Nepal Television), and Deurali Chamling (Freelance).
The group has successfully scaled Ramdung Mountain (5925 m)and Yalung-Ri Mountain (5630 m) last November. They have also taken a mountaineering course in the Rolwaling area of Dolkha.
