POKHARA, Feb 14: The impact of the Noble Corona virus spread from Wuhan, China, has impacted tourism of Pokhara. The lakeside of Pokhara is deserted at this time of the Chinese tourist season.

Chinese tourist traffic has been stagnant after the Chinese New Year's Eve due to the spread of Corona virus. The number of tourists visiting Pokhara has dropped drastically after Chinese airlines suspend Nepal flights.

This season, Pokhara used to have 40 to 50 percent tourist arrival. More than 25 percent of them used to be Chinese tourists. However, now the tourist arrival is in a low state. "All bookings have been canceled because of the Corona virus outbreak," said Bikal Tulachan, President of Western Hotel Association Pokhara.

The impact of the Corona virus has been seen at Pokhara International Airport, a project of national pride. 200 Chinese workers are involved in the project. "Most of the workers at the airport under construction are Chinese, with the help of the Chinese government," said Vinesh Munkarmi, Chief of the project. "Some Chinese workers who have gone to China on vacation are unable to return to Nepal because of this disease."
