COLOMBO, Feb 27: Sri Lanka's national airline, SriLankan Airlines, on Tuesday said it was experiencing flight delays and congestion at Colombo's main international airport due to a combination of 'unforeseen events', including a bird strike which damaged an aircraft in Cochin, in south west India.
In an 'urgent travel' alert, the Airline said these events had caused customers to be subjected to great inconvenience and delayed flights and it requested all passengers to check in for their flights online and contact the 24 hour call center or their travel agent before going to the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The airline advised passengers to maintain an up-to-date profile, including current mobile numbers and email addresses on FlySmiLes, its frequent flyer program, as that would help the carrier warn of delays or disruptions.
