KATHMANDU, Jan 19: In the period leading up to the federal parliament and state elections, Baburam Bhattarai, coordinator of the Naya Shakti Party had included the subject of bringing cable car service to the Sagarmatha Base Camp in his election manifesto. During the last period, potential studies have begun to start cable car service in the famous destinations of Himalayan regions including Annapurna Mountain which extends up to 8099 meter.

According to the study conducted, the car will be up to the Kori near the base camp of Annapurna Base Camp which is 3800 meters above sea level. Potential study has shown that about 6.5 km long cable car route can be built to Kori from Bhukulcha, which is at a height of 1,540 meters.

It can be estimated that more than 5 million Indians and foreign tourists can be attracted to that place in a year. Many tourists are still visiting the Annapurna Base Camp from Pokhara by helicopter. If this project is successful this can be turned as a successful model throughout the country.
