TAAN Pokhara to develop new trekking route

POKHARA, Jan 11: The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Pokhara is making preparations for operating a new hiking route to promote Kaski’s Kahfuche Glacial Lake in national and international countries.
TAAN recently operated a search and research campaign to open the new roadway for the promotion of the lake.
This lake remains at a height of 2450 meters above sea level in Kaski's Medi Village Municipality-1, and has been a matter of discussion since the last two years.
According to Deepak Raj Adhikari, president of the TAAN Pokhara, this alpine lake was made by the avalanche from the Annapurna Second and Lamjung Himal has a lot of tourism possibilities so research is going on.
It will be at least one week long walk, to reach Kahfuche from Pokhara Leknath Metropolitan Municipality to Kaski's Aarmala, Thak, Tara Hill and Hugu. A team with GPS has been working to make a map of this footway route including the villages, rivers, and Bhangyang on the route.
Participant of the research group and TAAN Regional Union, Pokhara's former Secretary, Vinay Acharya, informed that after few months after the map construction, the working of the road will commence.
Most parts of the trekking route are inside Annnapurna Conservation area. Narayan Sapkota, coordinator of the TAAN Silver Festival, said that observation of Gurung culture, the view of the long mountain range, the coasts, different wild animals, birds, as well as alpine lakes and glaciers are visible which are its positive characteristics.
Coordinator of the program Mr. Bisworaj Adhikari said that the research work is completed in the route on the occasion of Silver Festival Celebration organized by TAAN Western Regional Association, Pokhara, with the help of ACAAP, Madi Village Municipality and Nepal Tourism Board. According to the businessmen, this hiking route based on Camping and Homestay facilities will start after 20 days. This route will go from Kaski’s Madi Village Municipality which includes places like Hugu, Kori, Thurju and dudhpokhari to Namun Pass which would come out to Manang District.
Owner of Namaste Guest House situated in Kaski’s Siklace, Mr Dhaan Gurung informed that Kahfuche Lake, also known as Virgin Ice Lake, was visited by both domestic and foreign tourists the past year.
