TAAN supports investigation committee for helicopter rescue issues

KATHMANDU, Jun 18: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has formed a work committee to investigate misdemeanors and unethical practices during the course of helicopter rescue in tourism areas. The committee was formed under the leadership of the Joint Secretary of the ministry, Ghanashyam Upadhyay.

The Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal has praised this act by the Ministry of Tourism in a press release. TAAN expressed support for the work committee, saying that the tourism sector is a reflection of the country to the outside world and must be maintained to high standards.

TAAN has also expressed concern over various news circulated after the formation of the investigative committee which have implicated various trekking companies and organizations in unethical activities during helicopter rescues. The press release criticized news that implicated any individual or organization without definitive proof on the matter, as the investigation has yet to begin.

The press repease advocated quality tourism and positive support and cooperation for the development of tourism in Nepal.
