Tamang Cultural Festival to be held in Lamjung

LAMJUNG: The First Historic Tamang Cultural Festival is being held to mark the occasion of the 2853rd Sonam Lhosar.
The Nepal Tamang Ghedung District Working Committee, Lamjung on Tuesday held a press conference to make an announcement of the festival taking place on January 21 and 22 at Besisahar garden.
Under the banner 'Language, Religion, Culture Our Honour, Save Our Identity' the First Historic Tamang Festival is being organized, Ghedung District Working Committee, Lamjung Chairman, Ajay Tamang said.
Tamang added that the festival was being held with an aim to conserve and promote the endangered culture of the Tamang community. "We are organizing the festival to hand over our culture to the new generation on basis of productivity, development and prosperity," he shared.
During the festival, a photo exhibition of the Tamang ethnic community will be held along with Lama museum, Tamang cultural museum, Bonbo museum, museum of materials with inscription of Tamang script, Tamang delicacies, Lama training and Tombo training. Many stalls evoking the Tamang identities will also be set up during the festival.
National and local artists will also perform at the festival. The organizers have expressed a belief that the festival will play an important role in bringing together the Tamang people of the district. RSS
