KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The temples, which are closed due to the risk of COVID-19 infection, will be reopened from October 17. The shrines of all the deities in the Kathmandu Valley including, Guheshwari, Bhadrakali, Dakshinkali, Shobhabhagwati, Bangalamukhi, Maiti Devi, and Bhatbhateni Akashedevi, will be open from October 17.
According to the temple administrators, the temples have to reopen as the guthiyars have to have to carry procession and perform special worship during Dashain. Secretary of the Maiti Devi Temple Area Management Committee Rajaram Kapali said that the temple had to be reopened as they have to conduct special worship during the time of Dashain.
However, no decision has been taken by the government so far. At the special request of the locals, the temple administrators have decided to open the temples by following the health protocols. Kapali said that an agreement has been reached with the guthiyars not to start the procession but to perform special worship. The government had decided to close the temples as the risk of Covid 19 infection was high in these places.
