Three more swamp deer released in CNP

CHITWAN, May 2: Three more swamp deer brought from the Shuklaphanta National Park (SNP) have been released in the Chitwan National Park (CNP) on Monday morning.

A male and two female deer have been released in Padampur Block in the Eastern Sector of the CNP, according to the Chief Conservation Officer Ram Chandra Kandel at the CNP.
A total of five swamp deer have been released till date including two female deer which were released in CNP four days before, said the Officer Kandel.
A joint team of 30 staffers from CNP and SNP led by Senior Veterinary Surgeon Kamal Gaire at CNP had taken the deer under control before releasing them in the national park.
According to the Information Officer at CNP Nurendra Aryal, 2o deer are yet to be translocated to CNP from Shuklaphanta as per the government’s decision taken three years ago to release 25 swamp deer including five male here.
The cervids were taken under control after trapping them in net, informed Kandel.
