Tikauli community forest to charge fee

KATHMANDU, July 18: Tikauli Buffer Zone Community Forest situated at Chitwan Ratnanagar- 9 Tikauli will be charging fee with tourists for the forest conservation. According to the president of the committee, Ishwari Lamichhane, the decision of charging the fee is taken under the plans and policy of the Chitwan National Park to conserve and manage the area of the forest.

After the increase in the number of tourists we have planned to take the charges from the visitors. This forest is situated near the Bishhazari Lake which is enlisted in world’s heritage sites. The community will be charging rupees 5 hundred for the entrance of jeep, van and other vehicles whereas 2 hundred rupees for foreign visitors and 25 rupees for local for the protection and conservation of the area.

According to the secretary of the committee, Krishna Sharma Acharya, We can see varieties of the birds near Tikauli, Chepang lake, Thuli Ghol and Aamsoti Lake. Likewise various temples, eco tourism parks, chepang and tharu community are the centre of attraction of this place. The visitors can also observe one horn rhino and lion in the forest. The forest is covered in 79.35 hectors of land.
