Tourism Department sets new rules for casinos

KATHMANDU, Mar 06: According to the Director of Tourism Department, Dinesh Bhattarai, all casino owners are to pay the royalty and dues and the Tourism Department has issued a three day notice letter for its implementation. In the past the deadline for payment of royalty was 30 days but now to implement strictness among the casino owners, the deadline is decreased to 3 days.

It was found that about 1 dozen of casino have not paid royalty to the tune of 1 billlion 320 million rupees in tax to the government among which Casino Royal of Hotel Yak and Yeti and Hotel Radisson's casino are two of them.

The bigger casinos have to pay 30 million royalty while smaller casinos have to pay 7.5 million in royalty annually. Many renowned hotels like Hotel Annapurna and CMG Millionaires' Club have been paying royalties for all the casinos established by it.
