Tourism experts express sorrow over demise of Pokharel

KATHMANDU, July 24: Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari and CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board, Deepak Joshi, expressed condolence on the demise of Tek Chandra Pokharel, Member of Tourism Expertise Committee and Senior Tourism Businessman. He was an active member of the tourism sector since 40 years. He was the leader of tourism organizations such as Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Association of Tours and Travels Agent (NATTA), Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA).
Rabindra Adhikari posted in his facebook timeline by writing, "Extremely saddened to hear about the passing away of veteran tourism entrepreneur of Nepal, Mr. Tek Chandra Pokharel. Nepalese tourism industry has lost a pillar, a torch bearer and a visionary personality. His contribution to tourism of Nepal will always be remembered and be taken as a guideline. Heartfelt condolences to the family.”
Likewise, Deepak Raj Joshi board wrote, "Nepal Tourism Board is saddened to know about the sad demise of Mr. Tek Chandra Pokharel, doyen of Nepalese tourism. He had been associated with tourism industry for more than fifty years. He was a founding chairman of many tourism related associations of Nepal including Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents, Trekking Agents Association of Nepal, Himalaya Rescue Association. Well versed in tourism, he was involved in Nepal Tourism Master Plan."
Nepal Tourism Board expresses heartfelt condolence to his son Ashok Pokharel and his family for irreplaceable loss. Ashok Pokharel is the President of Nepal Association of Tour Operators.
