KATHMANDU, Oct 05: Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, Rabindra Adhikari has urged the representative of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to take necessary steps to remove Nepal’s name from European Union (EU) flight blacklist.

In the meeting organized during the Nepal visit of Ex- Secretary of ICAO, Raymond Benjamin, Vice President of Airbus, Yannick Malling and other representatives, Minister Adhikari expressed his views regarding the problem. He mentioned that Nepal is not able to conduct the flights in European countries due to its name enlisted in Blacklist of European Union. Most of the ships which are being operated in Nepal are brought from Europe but at the same time flights are not permitted to fly in Europe.

“What should be done to remove out name from EU’s black list? We are ready to make changes, due to our name in EU’s blacklist we are not able to operate our flights in Japan, Australia and other countries.” said Minister Adhikari.

In the meeting representatives of ICAO assured Nepal to remove the name from EU’s blacklist and also expressed their happiness in the improvement of CAAN.
