Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai opposes the decision of moving the office of National Archives

KATHMANDU, Oct 04: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has taken a stand not to move the office of the National Archives at Ramshapath in Kathmandu unless appropriate alternatives are prepared. 

Speaking at an event organized occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the National Archives Office iheld in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Bhattarai said that the office would not be moved and even if they have to do separate agreement with the supreme court they are ready to do it.

The Supreme Court has been writing repeatedly to remove the office of the National Archives from the basis of the decision of the Council of Ministers take on May 08. Minister Bhattarai, however, resolved to discuss the matter with the Supreme Court but did not allow the office of the archives to be moved immediately. He also made it clear that an office of sensitive and historical importance, such as the National Archives, could not be moved unless appropriate alternatives were prepared.

Minister Bhattarai expressed the lack of skilled manpower in the National Archives and assured that its fulfillment would be immediate.
