KATHMANDU, Aug 31: The Tourism Ministry has made a change in the Nepal Airlines' aircraft purchase investigation committee. Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, who was a member of the NAC executive committee during the time of the purchase of the wide-body aircraft, has been made the coordinator of the committee, replacing the Joint Secretary of the Ministry, Suresh Acharya.

The decision has been met with criticism as Lamichhane was part of the executive committee which was responsible for purchasing the two aircraft in the first place. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse Of Authority (CIAA) is investigating the purchase on suspicion of large financial irregularities in the undertaking. The Office of the Auditor General has also posed questions upon the transaction. The investigation committee formed by the Tourism Ministry later was headed by individuals involved in the original purchase, including Secretary Acharya.
