Ministry targets to increase tourism contribution to GDP by 10%

KATHMANDU, Aug 03: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation have announced its plans for the next 5 years under which they plan to operate 6 international and 15 internal flights through Nepal Airlines Corporation. Nepal Airlines Corporation is going to increase business by 60% within 5 years. During that period the corporation has plans to bring 10 new airships including narrow body and wide body aircraft.

The ministry has targets to contribute at least 10% in GDP from the tourism sector of the country.Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari said that within 5 years, construction of Bhairawa and Pokhara International Airport will be completed, and 50% work of Nijgadh airport will also be completed.

He also said that air traffic will be reduced to 30%. Likewise, within 3 years the monuments of our country like Lumbini, Pashupatinath, Muktinath , Rara, Khaptad, Swargadwari and Janakpur will be reconstructed.
