Tourism Promotion through Buddhism

KATHMANDU, Jan 07: Tourism can be promoted in Nepal through the Buddhist religion as Nepal is a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists around the world, said participants of the First International Buddhism Conference (Dorje Shugden). Participants of the conference said that coming to the birthplace of Buddha is a privilege to Buddhists and religious tourism has potential to help Nepal’s economic development.

The conference was attended by delegates from 20 countries including Nepal, India,China, Thailand, Germany, Japan, Myanmar, and Mongolia. Defense Minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan, who inaugurated the conference, said that such conferences held in Nepal will help the country to be better recognized in the world.

The conference was held in the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, Nepal, in order to convey a positive message, said the President of Nepal Natioanl Dorje Shugden Society, Basundhara Shrestha.
