Tourist arrival by airlines increases in Khumbu region

KATHMANDU, Oct 05: Due to the good weather condition in Solukhumbu, there are nearly 50 to 75 planes landing and taking off from the Lukla Airport. The rapid growth of tourists in Khumbu region is the arrival of festive season Dashain.
According to Yogendranath Kunwar, Head of Tenzing Hillery Airport ‘Around 400 to 600 tourist come into the Khumbu Area by air. On September 30th, 74 flights were being conducted of which 14 flights were from Tara Air, 10 from Summit, 10 from Sita and the rest 40 were from helicopters.’
Due to the increase in tourists at the Lukla Airport, they are using the Phaplu Airport and Okhaldunga Airport as their optional airport. In case of the bad weather in Lukla, the passengers are taken to Phaplu on a plane and then Lukla on the helicopter.
Altogether 130 flights have been conducted this Saturday and Sunday. According to the Airport, 75 flights were conducted on Saturday and 77 on Sunday including both planes and helicopters.
Khumbu which deserted during the offseason has received a lot of tourists. Dashain has been a topic of excitement for the rest of the people in our country but people here are more focused on the business and earnings as this is the only business season for them.
