KATHMANDU, Feb 20: The majority of tourists visiting Lumbini have been staying in the area for short amounts of time. According to the Lumbini Development Fund, tourists in recent years tend to make their visits to Lumbini quite short, returning immediately after visiting the major attractions of the city.
Information official of the Lumbini Development Fund, Haridhoj Malla, said that if the stay of tourists is not lengthened, the billions of investment in the hotel sector of Lumbini can be at risk. Hotel operator Govinda Gyawali said that restaurants and hotels are suffering due to tourists' low rate of stay in area. There are three dozen hotels and one dozen guest houses in Lumbini.
