Tourists enjoys elephant safari and boating at Koshi Tourism Festival

SUNSARI, Feb 14: Outdoor tourists are enjoying elephant safari and boating at the Koshi Tourism Festival organized by the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve Office in Koshi VDC-3 of Sunsari to meet the goal to meet 2 million tourists in Visit Nepal Year.
More than a thousand domestic and foreign tourists are reported to have been involved in elephant safari and boating daily at the festival. The festival, which has been organized by the villagers with a target of attracting between 40,000 and 100,000 tourists, has been able to attract a significant amount of internal and external tourists, said Ayub Ansari, Chairman of the municipality.
During the tourism year, the festival was organized to meet the target of attracting 2 million tourists taken by the federal government and 5 hundred thousand tourists by the state government, he added. The festival has been organized to achieve the goals of promoting Visit Nepal Year which has aim to promote domestic and external tourism and to identify Koshi Tappu as a great tourist destination, to build tourism infrastructure, to identify and manage natural heritage, to promote the conservation of cultural heritage.
He informed that Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai and Industry Tourism, Forest, and Environment Minister Jagdish Prasad Kushiyat both took elephant safari for the purpose of reflecting the identity of Koshi Tappu. The festival, which started on Feb 2, will continue till Feb 12, according to organizer. Various programs will also be held every night and afternoon at the festival, said the organizer.
