Transportation entrepreneurs prepares to bring tourist vehicles into operation

POKHARA, July 31: Declaring the year 2020 as Nepal Tourism Year, the government had urged the entrepreneurs to increase investment in public and tourism-related hotel business and other related sectors. Accordingly, Entrepreneurs had invested heavily in Pokhara. The number of well-equipped tourist buses was also increased.  However, due to the effect of Covid-19, the tourism sector has come to standstill.

Tourist vehicles plying on green number plates from Pokhara ranges from cars worth Rs 3.5 million to well-equipped land cruisers, coasters, etc. worth Rs 1.5 crore. Bobar Jung Gurung, President of the Nepal Tourist Transport Entrepreneurs' Association, Gandaki, said that vehicles worth Rs. 500 million was bought by the transportation entrepreneurs. According to him, the association currently has 400 tourist vehicles of different capacities. He informed that a minimum loss of Rs. 200,000 has to be borne daily due to the stoppage of tourist vehicles affiliated to the association. Nepal Tourist Transport Entrepreneurs Association Gandaki state has started training for the staff of tourist buses with the financial support of Nepal Tourism Board, said Gurung.

 It is preparing to bring other tourist vehicles into operation from August 17 after the lockdown has been lifted and permission has been given for the operation of public transport..
