Vice President stresses promotion of rural tourism

KATHMANDU, July 31: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said that Village Tourism Promotion Forum (VITOF), Nepal has played crucial role in rural tourism promotion.
At a programme on the occasion of the 21st annual general meeting of VITOF, Vice President Pun expressed happiness over VITOF's action to declare three new destinations every year under the village tourism year.
"The origin of People's War, historical battle fields and ancestral residential areas of people's war's leadership and the areas related to that should be marketed by making new programmes for the war tourism," the Vice President suggested.
On the occasion, former tourism minister Lokendra Bista Magar voiced for the mountain airport in Nepal.
VITOF's Chairman Ram Prasad Sapkota, CPN (UML) leader Surya Thapa, President of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) Ang Tshering Sherpa and other expressed their opinions suggesting the VITOF to remain active in future as well.
