BHAKTAPUR, Dec 21: Village Highland Hotel, being built at Ranikot area in Bhaktapur district at an investment of 150 million rupees has reached its final phase of construction. The hotel, constructed in the joint area of Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, and Kavrepalanchowk, at Ranikot, is set to come into operation with the turn of the New Year 2075.
According to the hotel operator Ram Sundar Bake, the hotel, constructed in the high altitude region of Bhaktapur, is situated 2000 meters above sea level. The location allows an enjoyable view of Kathmandu valley, and also a clear view of Himalayan mountain ranges to the north. The hotel rooms have been designed to face the north for this reason.
The hotel has been constructed over a total land of 5.5 ropanis. The construction of the main building has been completed, said Bake, with mainly only the interior works remaining. The hotel will have a total of 21 rooms.
Currently, the decoration of the hotel interior and garden are taking place, besides construction of the seminar hall and swimming pool. The seminar hall is designed to fit 50 people, with another hall being constructed with a capacity of 100 people.
According to Bake, rooms are already in demand even as the hotel finishes construction. The hotel buildings are earthquake-resistant and have been constructed with the safety of visitors in mind. He also added that the hotel will be operated using the products of local farmers, who are being encouraged to grow organic produce, with the aim to promote and develop the hotel as a completely organic one.
Bake says that he entered the hotel business in order to strengthen the tourism industry in Nepal. Ranikot, which lies at the border of Ward-7 Gundu and Ward-8 Sipadol, is a tourism area. The number of domestic and foreign tourists have been increasing in the area after the Department of Archaeology began research and initial digging in the Malla-era Ranikot fortress.
