VITOF launches homestay program to promote Chilaunekharka

POKHARA, Feb 20: The Village Tourism Promotion Forum (VITOF) Nepal is making preparations to establish Chilaunekharka village to the south of Pokhara into a village tourism destination. VITOF is planning to develop homestay facilities in the village situated at Pokhara Lekhnath Municipality-21.
The Chilaunekharka community is home to 63 Magar families. After preliminary study and discussion, about two dozen of those houses are ready to provide homestay facilities to tourists. The homestay facility would allow visitors to experience the local foods and cuisine, and will also engage them in cultural programs like Kaura, Krishna Charitra, etc.
President of VITOF Pokhara, Taranath Pahari, says that the organization is collaborating to develop the tourism potential of Chilaunekhara. It will soon be conducting homestay training in the community as part of its campaign.
Chilaunekharka is situated 12 km to the south of Pokhara. Public transport facility is available till Nirmal Pokhari, and the village is situated ten minutes' walk from the bus stop.
