Vote counting of NMA election underway

KATHMANDU, August 05: The vote counting of the election for the new leadership in Nepal Mountaineering Association has kick started with result expected late by Sunday morning.

“The election commencing from the 8:20 AM to 4:20 PM on Saturday witnessed the voter turnover of about 73 pc. which means a total of 760 members turned to voting out of the One Thousand and 39 members,” Ang Chiring Sherpa, President of the Mountaineering regulatory body said.

The election of Saturday will elect new committee of 15 members which will have 3 years tenure. On the other hand a total of 5 representatives in the committee are already elected with anonymous votes and 3 members are to be nominated.

Two panels of Jangbu Sherpa and Santabir Lama are contesting in the election.
