Yarsyagumba collector killed in avalanche

BHIMDATTANAGAR, June 3: A person was killed and six others seriously injured in an avalanche while collecting the precious Himalayan herb cum insect – Yarsyagumba – in the highlands of Dharchula on Thursday.

48 – year – old Dhaul Singh Bohara of Chanaulpani of Purchyaudi Municipality – 3 was killed in the avalanche in Api Himal rural municipality – 1.

According to the District Police Office, Darchula, 21 – year – old Janak Dhami of Chanaulpani was seriously injured in the incident and was rushed to Gokuleshwor for treatment. He has sustained multiple injuries in different parts of his body.

Bohara's body was cremated on Friday morning. He had arrived in Darchula last month to collect the herb. Many people flock the highlands in Darchula and Bahjang to collect Yarsyagumba, which has become a good source of income.
