Tourism Minister bats for increasing production to prop up economy

KATHMANDU, May 17:Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati has said that the goods produced from the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) should be taken to the international market to consolidate the foundation of our economy.

During a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries on Tuesday, Minister Kirati said tourism and small enterprises should be linked for the publicity campaign that tourism is also an industry.

On the occasion, the Tourism Minister said country's tourism industry is gradually regaining its position and the development, expansion and diversification is needed for the promotion of tourism industry along with its linkage with the cottage industry.

Likewise, the Minister pledged to support for the Sagarmatha National Award and Nepal Promotion Programme-2080 BS to be organized by the Federation in collaboration with the government later this year.    

The delegation of the Federation also held discussions on the modality of the programme for the event 'Nepal Promotion'.
