Over 16,000 people went paragliding in Pokhara in a single year

KATHMANDU, April 26:Statistics show that 16,500 paragliding trips were made in Pokhara in a single year.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation released the official data for 2023, which shows that 16,468 people went paragliding in Pokhara this year.

This year, 6,993 foreigners and 9,475 Nepalese nationals have flown paragliding. 14,960 individuals went paragliding in Pokhara last year (2022).

Even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of paraglider passengers remained constant. Paragliding was experienced by 12,950 persons in 2021, and 22,275 in 2020.

In 2019, the figure reached 32,522. Until then, the number of Nepali citizens was steadily increasing, whereas foreign citizens experienced it frequently, according to the data.

According to the data, the number of foreign nationals who go paragliding is modest, although the number of passengers did not reach its peak in 2019.

More than four dozen organizations in Nepal have been operating paragliding operations, with a concentrate on Pokhara. This is one of Pokhara's adventure tourism products.
