New plane are purchased from internal sources: NAC

KATHMANDU, Nov 27:Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has said that new aircraft can be purchased from domestic sources.

The NAC is planning to buy three more planes to fly to remote locations. However, the corporation's net assets are barely 8 billion, and its long-term debt is over 48 billion.

Following several public inquiries about the purchase of planes, the NAC stated that it is capable of purchasing planes from internal sources.

"Regarding the financial resources, the NAC can manage it from internal sources, as the corporation will bring in three 'stol route' planes at an interval of 6/6 months, instead of paying the entire amount in one lump sum, the corporation can manage it from internal sources," according to a press release issued by the NAC.

Furthermore, the NAC stated that the plane will be purchased in a transparent way, with permission from the Ministry of Tourism.

NAC has responded that the availability of aircraft and organizational reorganization are not mutually incompatible.
