Tourism sector donated 3 million to earthquake victims

KATHMANDU, Nov 28:The aid collected for earthquake victims was handed over to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal by 'Together for Tourism' (TFT), a network of tourism-related associations led by President Binayak Shah and coordinated by the Hotel Association Nepal. The tourism industry has contributed Rs 3 million in support to earthquake victims.

This relief was collected for the earthquake victims of Jajarkot and Rukum West.

According to Prime Minister Dahal, this relief will support earthquake victims' livelihoods. He stated that the network of umbrella groups in the tourism sector will help the sector's development and expansion, and that he will soon discuss further concerns with the network.

In the first phase, 15 lakh 56 thousand 878 rupees from Hotel Sangh Nepal and an additional 5 lakh rupees from member Hotel Himalaya, acrylic Panchu-500 pieces and live saver water filter-15, and blankets worth 5 lakhs from Skal Nepal-240 pieces, sleeping Bag 100 pieces, 5 pieces of wheel chair, 5 pieces of stretcher, and 20 pieces of protective suit were donated.

Ramesh Thapa, President of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents, Shiva Adhikari,  President of Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies, Krishna Acharya, President of Tourist Bus Association of Nepal, Mahendraraj Paudel, President of SKAL Nepal, former President of Hotel Association Nepal Shreejana Rana etc. The Prime Minister transferred the equivalent relief to the Divine Disaster Relief Fund.

During the relief hand over, Binayak Shah, president of the HAN, stated that tourism-related skill training would be provided to earthquake-affected families.
