CAAN Prepared to provide contract for construction of terminal building at Nalinchowk Heliport

KATHMANDU, Jan 23:The heliport at Nalinchowk, Bhaktapur, will not be operational immediately. The heliport, which has been completed and tested, will not be operational immediately due to terminal building construction preparations.

Jagannath Niraula, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), stated that plans for a modest terminal facility at the heliport have been advanced.

The heliport is ready. However, there is no terminal facility where people can stay while arriving and departing. As a result, plans are being made to issue contract notices to construct a small building," he explained.

A mountain helicopter made a test flight at the helipad about a month and a half ago. Mid June, the helipad was erected for 119 million rupees.

According to the CAAN, once the heliport in the 33 Ropani area is operational, helicopter services to any point in Nepal will be straightforward to operate. Currently, 11 businesses operate three dozen helicopters.

The CAAN plans to build structures around the heliport, including a fuel tank, a separate room for firefighting, an office for a helicopter company, a confectionary store, and a hangar for maintenance.
