Agreement between Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality and Nimsdai Foundation to construct porter accommodation

KATHMANDU, April 30:Housing for porters will be constructed in Lobuche, Solukhumbu.

Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality and the Nimsdai Foundation have inked a deal to build houses for Lobuche porters in Lobuche. The agreement was signed by Mingma Chiri Sherpa, Chairman of Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, and Glenn Malen, Executive Director of the Nimsdai Foundation.

Construction on the porters' accommodations will begin this week. The housing will have a total capacity of 84 persons. The Nimsdai Foundation has pledged to contribute 59 million rupees and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality would invest 50 million rupees in housing building.

With the completion of housing construction, a clinic will be established to treat trekkers. Chairman Sherpa stated that the goal is to finish building houses for the porters within a year.

The construction will be done by the Khunde Community.
